Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna's intense rivalry in Chhaava: "We became Aurangzeb and Sambhaji Maharaj, no personal exchanges"

Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna took their commitment to their roles in Chhaava to another level, ensuring their intense on-screen rivalry remained uncompromised. Playing the roles of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, respectively, the two actors refrained from any off-screen interactions before their dramatic face-off.

Vicky Kaushal on intense scene with Akshaye Khanna “When we were shooting that scene, we exchanged no good mornings, goodbyes, or hellos. He was Aurangzeb, and I was Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and there was no communication as Vicky Kaushal to Akshaye Khanna,” Vicky revealed during an interview with Bollywood Hungama.

Vicky Kaushal on Aurangzeb-Sambhaji Maharaj rivalry Vicky emphasized how the film focuses on Aurangzeb’s relentless pursuit of Sambhaji Maharaj, a mission that lasted nearly a decade. “It took Aurangzeb nine years to find and get hold of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. So, a lot of the film shows his quest to find him. There are some moments together, but the film is about them thriving to meet each other, and that will leave you waiting for that face-off to happen.”

Laxman Utekar on Akshay Khanna’s Aurangzeb Director Laxman Utekar commended Akshaye Khanna’s intense portrayal of Aurangzeb, describing how the actor brought an eerie presence to the role. “The way he has played Aurangzeb will leave you frightened. He talks very little but communicates so much with his eyes,” Laxman shared. The director also recalled how he managed to bring Akshaye on board for the project, noting the actor’s selectiveness when it comes to film roles.
