2024 ended on a disappointing note but the trade experts are hopeful that 2025 will be better. We asked trade experts on which film would be the biggest hit of the year and War 2 was the unanimous choice.
Taran Adarsh said, “I am looking forward to War 2. Two actors, whom I rate very highly, are coming together.”
War 2 stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Directed by Ayan Mukerji of Brahmastra (2022) fame, it also stars Kiara Advani. It is produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films (YRF) and belongs to the Spy Universe, which also comprises Pathaan, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Tiger, featuring Salman Khan. The earlier part, War (2019), starred Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, and was the biggest hit of that year.
Trade analyst Atul Mohan also said that Chhava, starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj can surprise. He said, “War 2, Chhava and Sikandar are highly awaited. The response to Sikandar’s teaser is very encouraging.”
Taran Adarsh agreed that the promo of Salman Khan’s Eid release has served its purpose saying, “Sikandar’s teaser has been met positively. People are looking forward to it. I feel A R Murugadoss is one of the finest storytellers. He has a great command over technique and also content.” Sikandar also stars Rashmika Mandanna and is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal said, “Sikandar’s teaser is not bad but it’s also not like it would create a tsunami. It seems like a decent film. I feel War 2 will be the biggest hit of 2025.”
While many feel that the next year will record better numbers, Atul Mohan sighed, “There were less than 140 releases in 2024, which is less than 2023. I fear the number of films next year will be fewer.” He also cautioned, “2025 bhi unnees bees hi rahega.”
Raj Bansal, however, signed off on a hopeful note saying, “I am expecting big numbers in 2025.”
