2025 looks like a turnaround year for Akshay Kumar. It seems that the lean mean arid streak seems to be inching towards a closure. The actor is all set to bring his first outing of the year in the form of Sky Force, which releases on Friday January 24.
Prolific filmmaker Priyadarshan, who has directed Akshay Kumar in some of his best celluloid outings including Hera Pheri, feels that the actor’s second innings starts now. “I think Sky Force is looking like something the audience would pay to see Akshay Kumar in,” he said. “He has always been perceived as a true-blue patriotic hero. I remember I was on the jury of the National Awards when he won the Best Actor Award for Rustom and Airlift. I see the same quality of performance in Sky Force. I am working with him again after many years. The actor in Akshay is more active now than ever before.”
The pre-release reports of Jio Studios and Maddock Films’ Sky Force are “very encouraging”. The film about the Indo-Pak conflict of 1965 is expected to open on a high note this Friday.
A top film exhibitor of Bihar Roshan Singh said, “The reason Akshay Kumar has not had a big success lately is the lack of interest in the content. This time in Sky Force, the patriotic sentiments are very high. Akshay Kumar was last seen so smooth in Airlift. Sky Force seems to take up his image from the earlier film.”
