Aditya Sarpotdar calls Shah Rukh Khan perfect fit for horror thrillers as he speaks about Heretic

PVRINOX Pictures proudly presents Heretic from A24 Films, an intense psychological horror-thriller from the creators of A Quiet Place, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. The film stars Hugh Grant as the enigmatic Mr. Reed, with Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East as two missionaries ensnared in a deadly game of survival. Set to release on Friday, the December 13, Heretic promises to redefine the boundaries of psychological horror.

Acclaimed filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar recently attended a special screening of Heretic and couldn’t stop raving about the film. Known for his keen eye for storytelling, Aditya described the movie as a refreshing treat for horror enthusiasts, sharing that he loved the experience of watching a “good horror film in the theatre after a long time”.

A particular highlight for him was the unexpected casting of Hugh Grant in a genre entirely unlike his previous work. “The USP of the film is Hugh Grant, saying he's one of his favourite actors and he's never seen him in this genre. He's done romantic cinema all his life and he’s so sweet and so endearing. To see him in this avatar is so great,” Sarpotdar remarked, emphasizing how Grant’s performance added a fresh dynamic to the film.

Drawing a parallel to Indian cinema, Sarpotdar remarked that Shah Rukh Khan would be the ideal choice for a similar role in India. “There couldn’t be better casting than Shah Rukh Khan for a film like Heretic… and who better than him in India to do something like this.”

Heretic follows the gripping journey of Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East), whose seemingly routine day turns into a nightmare after they knock on the wrong door. What starts as an innocent encounter quickly escalates into a deadly psychological battle with the diabolical Mr. Reed. As the story unfolds, the girls are forced to navigate a harrowing test of faith, where belief becomes both a source of strength and a life-altering trap.
