Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) again shared his admiration for Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal. In a candid conversation with Vanga at the Animal vs Wild Animal event, RGV expressed how the film's depiction of violence left a lasting impression on him.
Emotional Depth in Violence RGV praised the raw intensity of Animal, particularly highlighting the emotional depth behind its violent scenes. He said, "The violence was more impactful than seeing armies fighting each other." Drawing a parallel to his own work, RGV recalled narrating the concept of gritty violence to Nagarjuna during the making of Shiva. He stated that the emotional stakes in Animal, especially in scenes featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol, made the action more resonant. Haunting Visuals and Direction Ram Gopal Varma admitted that certain scenes in Animal stayed with him long after watching the film. He remarked, "I felt the same thing with Ranbir's scenes in Animal, especially the low-angle shot. It haunts me even now." Contrasting Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Personality During the discussion, RGV also commented on Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s calm demeanor, which contrasts with the violent narratives in his films. "I never see anger in you. Maybe you reserve it for your characters, or you are acting like you don’t have that rage," he noted. A Box-Office Triumph Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, focuses on a complex father-son relationship. The film became one of the highest-grossing films of 2023, receiving widespread acclaim for its emotionally charged storytelling and intense action. With a sequel titled Animal Park already announced, the franchise is set to continue its legacy. In addition to this, the film will turn one on December 1.
