Rhea Chakraborty recently shared her experience of the challenging period following her imprisonment after the tragic death of her ex-boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020. Reflecting on those difficult days, she recalled a surprising discovery she made after her release. Noticing that her parents had gained weight while she was in jail, Rhea humorously confronted them, saying, “‘Kameeno, main wahan jail mein thi aur tum log yahan khana khaa rahe ho, weight put on kar rahe ho’ (I was in jail, and you were eating food and putting on weight).” Her parents explained that her friends had been visiting them regularly, sharing meals and drinks to help them cope with the situation.
Friends who stood by her parents Rhea shared how her friends' efforts to make her parents feel "a little normal" during those tough times left a lasting impact on her. She humorously recounted how her friends would dine and drink with her parents every night, which explained the unexpected weight gain she noticed after her release. She expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m like, why have you gained so much weight? They were like, ‘No, dude. We were just trying to make uncle-aunty eat and drink and make them feel a little normal.’ And I was, like, ‘Oh wow!’” This act of kindness highlighted the strong support system she had during those challenging times. The power of true friendship Rhea also spoke about the incredible support she received from her friends, especially the women who stood by her during her ordeal. She emphasized the importance of having even just one true friend in life, saying, “I was surrounded by superpowers of women. Some of my girlfriends – the way they stood by me – my God! You don’t need anything else – you can have one true friend in life and that’s enough.” She specifically mentioned Shibani Dandekar, who was a pillar of strength for her. “The way Shibani stood for me was enough for me to know that the whole world can be against me but I have one friend,” Rhea shared, reflecting on the bond that gave her immense comfort and resilience during her darkest days.
