Several articles, critics and audience tend to write off the big names of Bollywood including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, based on the fact that these actors are currently finding it difficult to give hits whereas young actors tend to score higher at Box office.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, discussing about people’s opinions regarding the importance of Khans diminishing over the years due to arrival of new and young actors in the industry, Taran Adarsh said, “I read a lot of articles and sections of social media writing that the Khans’ era is over, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn Hrithik Roshan’s era is over, I beg to differ. I believe that the craze of 90’s superstars will persist forever. We often argue that our films require content, spice, or entertainment. I would like to give you an example of Drishyam 2. The film worked solely because of the drama and the performances. Ajay Devgn was top notch, Akshaye Khanna was fantastic, Tabu was superb. The film neither has any songs or action nor any romance; it is running on one track”.
“I do feel that with the passage of time, the actors need to switch over to strong characters because the audience is aware of the fact that the actor is 58 years old and he cannot be playing a certain kind of role or romancing with a person or running around trees and singing songs. So, it is necessary to change along with the time”, Taran further added.
