There was a time when Akshay Kumar was doing a series of action films. Then came comedies and in the recent times he has made quite a few films with a social message or political undertones. In fact his current release Housefull 4 is a comic hit already. However, there is a romantic side of his which hasn’t been seen in an out and out avtar. Well, the wait is over as he has made his music video debut with ‘Filhall’, a heart-breaking romantic number, which has just been unveiled. If the initial reactions to this B Praak and Jaani created soulful song are any indication, this one is going to be a major chartbuster in very quick time from now. Lasting a good five minutes, this soulful track is accentuated further by simple yet excellent visuals, courtesy director Arvinder Khaira, who has made sure that there is an entire story to be told there. However, what makes the song special is the manner in which Akshay Kumar approaches the narrative and makes sure that the pain and void is conveyed through facial expressions and body language with eyes doing the talking. The stage and setting is that of Akshay Kumar playing a surgeon who gets an accident case of his former girlfriend, enacted by competent debutant Nupur Sanon (sister of Akshay’s Housefull 4 co-star Kriti Sanon). Even as he attends to her, old memories rekindle and it is revealed how they met and then separated. There is a twist in the tale though and one ends up wondering if the duo shall meet. Well, more can be seen on checking out the video. What can he said though is that those who loved the chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in their romantic musical drama Namaste London would definitely trip over what Akshay Kumar and Nupur Sanon bring on board with ‘Filhall’. The love, emotions, pain, helplessness, hope and being soulmates is all conveyed exceedingly well by the two actors and the entire team associated with the song, something that makes ‘Filhall’ truly special. Rest assured, this one is in for a really long run and would have quite a few hearts truly in love beat for it in days, weeks and months to come.
