IIFA Awards 2023: Hrithik Roshan gives a heartfelt speech after he receives Best Actor award for Vikram Vedha

In his latest venture Vikram Vedha, Hrithik Roshan fans loved his portrayal of Vedha, a ruthless, terrifyingly mad, yet charming, and delectably mischievous gangster. The actor, who recently attended the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) Awards in Yas Island Dubai, walked away with the prestigious trophy of Best Actor for his performance in the Hindi remake. Followed by the same, the actor gave a heartfelt acceptance stage on the IIFA stage.

While receiving the award, he shared, "Vedha helped unleash a certain madness inside me which I didn’t know existed. So, thank you to the universe & thank you to Vedha for helping me discover that madness & the strength to hold that madness.” The actor received the award from Anil Kapoor, who also received the IIFA Award for Best Supporting Character in Jugjugg Jeeyo. The two will also be seen together on the big screen in the upcoming film Fighter, co-starring Deepika Padukone.

Coming to Vikram Vedha, We hear that Hrithik Roshan wanted to become ‘Vedha’ by completely absorbing every element of the character and his nuances. In order to embody the gangster, Hrithik let go of all inhibitions and was even willing to be eccentric and wacky to essay the character. Hrithik also underwent a lot of preps, from voice training and speaking gibberish to dialogue rehearsals, dancing to 80s music, emoting to nature, and recording himself to perfect his mannerisms and dialect, etc.

Vikram Vedha was directed by Pushkar Gayathri. The film is a remake of the 2017 Tamil film by the same. While Hrithik was Vedha, Saif Ali Khan played Vikram. The characters were essayed by Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan in the South version. The film released in Hindi on September 29.

EXCLUSIVE: Gulshan Devaiah celebrates his birthday amid success of Dahaad, “My ex-wife, who is my best friend, has booked a table at an expensive restaurant”

The month of May is special for Gulshan Devaiah. Apart from it being his birthday, his two projects – his web series Dahaad and movie 8 AM Metro – released in this month. “This month has been special for me. Dahaad became a hit and my film 8 AM Metro was released in theatres. Although only a few people saw it, they have liked it. My work has been appreciated in it. Birthday months are lucky months,” he said in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama.

Devaiah completes 45 today but he tells us that he doesn’t quite like celebrating. “I wish to do nothing, but people don’t let you do that,” he said. “Friends will make some plan. Chalti nahin hai aapki marzi. My ex-wife (Kalliroi Tziafeta) is my best friend. She has somehow managed to book a table in an expensive restaurant.”

Directed by Reema Kagti and Ruckika Oberoi and streamed on Amazon Prime Video, Dahaad is a gritty crime drama taking place in the interiors of Rajasthan, where nobody generally shoots. Devaiah said that the biggest challenge for the team was the cold weather.

“We didn’t feel that we were shooting at a place where nobody shoots,” said the actor. “Shooting in the cold was challenging. We were given summer uniforms, but we were shooting in the winter. Other than this, there was no other challenge. It was a very good team and we enjoyed.”

Dahaad stars Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role of a sub-inspector. Devaiah, who plays her senior, had a lot of scenes with her. “We used to do a lot of time pass and chat,” he said. “We used to play volleyball and badminton. We got a good chance of knowing each other. We developed a good friendship. It helps when you are working with someone you are comfortable with. She lives a very active lifestyle. She likes sports.”

Devaiah’s character Devilal Singh is usually calm but there is one scene in the ending portions where he loses his cool and screams at his wife in a moment of conflict. Recalling that moment, Devaiah said, “It will burst out at some point. I don’t exactly remember if it was in the script or we improvised. If a person is always keeping calm in tough situations, the anger and frustration will eventually come out in some way on someone; he is a human after all. He also blurts out to his wife that she is backward.”

Sara Ali Khan says she made her connections in the film industry independently: “I have never felt the pressure to follow through with my father’s friends or my mother’s friends”

Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan recently made her Cannes Film Festival debut. At the French Riviera, the actress talked about making connections in the industry independently instead of using her father Saif Ali Khan and mother Amrita Singh’s help.

In an interview with Film Companion, Sara Ali Khan said that her mother rarely had friends in the industry. “Every relationship I have established in the film fraternity has been a very independent equation, which is very nice because I have never felt the pressure to follow through with my father’s friends or my mother’s friends,” Sara said.

She added, “She (Amrita) says, ‘Everyone has their own journey, and you should chalk out your own and this is not for me.'”

Sara Ali Khan further talked about her parents and said, “My father is a thinker, he is a bit of a planner, he is a traveller and I have inherited that from him. Mum is happy to be on her own and not explore much. My father has the need to explore, travel, eat different kinds of food, and see the whole world. Mom is the epitome of strings, she is emotionally very strong. She sleeps with a lot of peace. I don’t think I have her peace as yet. But, both of us are emotional beings at the core. She has never pretended to be somebody that she is not.”

On the work front, Sara Ali Khan is currently promoting Zara Hatke Zara Bachke with Vicky Kaushal. Helmed by Laxman Utekar, the film is set to release on June 2, 2023. ALSO READ: Sara Ali Khan confirms Ibrahim Ali Khan gearing up for Bollywood debut: “He just finished shooting his first film”

Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane are in Cannes for the premiere of their film Kennedy. The Kashyap directorial has been selected for a Midnight screening. The film stars Sunny Leone, Rahul Bhatt and Abhilash Thapliyal in key roles.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone and Jesse Plemons walked the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival alongside Martin Scorsese before the grand premiere of Killers Of The Flower Moon.

At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder.

Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), Killers of the Flower Moon is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons, Killers of the Flower Moon is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.

Killers of the Flower Moon will premiere exclusively in theatres beginning Friday, October 6 before streaming globally on Apple TV+. Nawazuddin Siddiqui says he didn't take Manoj Bajpayee seriously as an actor before Bandit Queen: “Pehle toh aivanyi le rahe the hum unko”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who will next be seen in Jogira Sara Ra Ra, said that he didn't take Manoj Bajpayee seriously when they worked on a play years before they worked on Gangs Of Wasseypur. This was way before Bajpayee had received critical acclaim for Shekhar Kapur's Bandit Queen.

In an interview with Mashable India, Nawazuddin said that it was only after watching the movie that he realized the talent of Bajpayee. “I had done a play with Manoj bhai. Back then, he wasn’t this famous. He was popular in the theatre circuit. I got a part in that play and learnt that the main lead was played by Manoj Bajpayee. After that, he got Bandit Queen and then I got to know who is Manoj Bajpayee! Pehle toh aivanyi le rahe the hum unko (Earlier, I was taking him lightly). He was known in the theatre circuit though, and was among the top five best actors of the time,” he said.

“Vijay Raaz and I used to stand like a tree for two and a half hours! And Manoj bhai was so naughty, he was playing a part of a Koala and a jungle was created on stage — where men would be trees. So, as the Koala, he could come and scratch himself and we would feel ticklish but couldn’t even laugh. Iss tareeke ki badmaashiya karte the,” he added.

EXCLUSIVE: Are Kangana Ranaut’s films flopping because of her controversial statements? Taran Adarsh says, “I genuinely feel that…”

Kangana Ranaut had acquired an image of a successful actress who had box office hits on her own. However, since recent years, her films haven’t been working at the box office. Her last film Dhaakad turned out to be a disaster. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh spoke about what actually went wrong with her films.

“I think Kangana Ranaut is a brilliant actress,” said Adarsh. “If you see her work from the very beginning, right from her first film Gangster, Woh Lamhe to Dhaakad, which didn’t work at the box office. Kangana was good in those films. Of course, in between there are films that you do because they are commercial and big films where all eyes are on the hero and heroines aren’t given that importance.”

Kangana is known for giving politically controversial statements. Taran Adarsh was asked whether this can be the reason why her films are not working. He said, “I genuinely feel that when a person goes to watch a film, the story going on the screen matters to him. What the actor had said and what is going on in that actor’s personal life is there in your mind but only to an extent. The characters on the screen matter. If the film is good, it will surely succeed.”

Speaking about Dhaakad’s failure, he said, “The writing of Dhaakad was very weak. And it was pitted against a film that became a runaway hit – Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. When Dhaakad flopped, the entire blame fell on Kangana. But I feel Kangana did very well in the movie. People weren’t going and that is a sad part. And it happens with all the actors.”

Citing other recent examples of films of big stars not working out well, Adarsh added, “For example, Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee released but people didn’t go to watch it. Even after the blockbuster success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, people didn’t go for Kartik Aaryan’s next movie Shehzada. He had never given any politically wrong statements. He is also an ‘outsider’ and not a ‘nepo’ kid. You can’t blame anything except the content of the film and the trailer. It (the trailer) is the indicator of things to follow.”
